So, upon request!

Upon a special request or demand for an update in kornyken, I'm forced to update my blog -__-

Okay, I'll update you guys on what I've been doing since coming back to work in Mattel.

First off, I'm only 1km away from office. Which only takes me 3minutes to arrive at office if i were to leave at 800-820am, and takes about 7minutes if I were to leave at about 830am. That is how near I am. So, one of my senior said to me "So, there's no such thing as 'caught in jam' for you eh?"
Ah, I can't report late to work with a good excuse. Or rather, a standard excuse.

Yes, I'm currently at home now because since in the HQ in the States, it is voted as no. 70 in the top 100 companies to work for. It only counts in the HQ and not in their other marketing, manufacturing, logistics branches around the world. However, we are trying to get there, to be as close as the HQ, in terms of employee working experience and satisfaction. That's what I've been told. That is why on Fridays of the 2nd and 3rd week of the month, we have only 1/2 day to work. However, there's a catch, of course. We have to compensate the hours lost on the Fridays mentioned and work 1 hour extra on the Mondays-Thursdays, where the particular Fridays are in place.

This was the very 1st week I start, and I was immediately introduce to my direct reporting manager, who is new in Mattel as well. He was in P&G for 8 years. And from what I've seen so far, there are many of the managers here are all from the FMCG industry. My commercial director himself was a big time player in the FMCG industry. I'm guessing they are wanting to transform the toy industry to move as fast as the everyday need products in the market.

And during the ~1month long orientation, I'm being introduced to different departments, what role do they play in the company, who do they report to, to which department they pass their work to, and to which other departments they are linked to. Basically just, how the organization is being run here.

And of course, lots of toys. Batman action figures, hotwheels, and many other interesting toys that are displayed in their conference room. And they were all anticipating this particular Fisher-Price product which will be launched next month. I've seen the demo unit myself. It is nicely done, a more advanced version of Tickle Me Elmo. The video below is the prototype unit showcased in some toy fair back in February. The demo unit is not as "flimsy" or "loose" neither the cords connected to Elmo's ass.

Check this out.
